1741 Admiral Vernon - Ports of Carthagena Medallion. Commemorates the taking of the Spanish Port, showing the full length figure of Admiral Vernon standing with staff in left hand and, in the background, ships before the harbour and town. Legend: "Admiral Vernon Veiwing (sic) The Town of Carthagana". Reverse depicts the Admiral's fleet laying siege at the harbour mouth with fortified placements of Carthagena. Surrounded by the legend: "The Forts of Carthagina Destroyd (sic) by ADM Vernon" with the date 1741 in the exergue. Bronze. diameter 37mm(1.5inches).
